Healing For Your Injured Soul

wilted daisyGod intended for each and every one of you to live an abundant victorious life, yet so many people struggle and say “I’m ok” as they slowly bleed to death emotionally.  All of you have experienced trauma, pain, fear, or rejection, and these experiences have injured your soul.

Even those of you with a personal relationship with God often struggle to experience peace, joy, and wholeness. You all come to God in varying degrees of brokenness. Some of you have been beaten down and shattered, while others have only acquired nicks and bruises. When Jesus was on the earth He healed the physically sick, and He also gave acceptance, unconditional love, and joy to the emotionally wounded.

“A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out, till He leads justice to victory.  In His name the nations will put their hope.”

(Matthew 12:18, 20-21)

How many of you feel like a bruised reed?  The bent stem of a plant that withers, bending over unable to hold yourself upright and remain connected to the plant without turning brown, drying up, and falling off. There are many of you that feel like a smoldering wick whose light is extinguished with nothing left to rekindle the flame. When you are broken, bruised, and lifeless, He will not snuff out what strength you have left or break you when you are bruised. He is a God who restores you to wholeness. He sees the circumstances or people who press against you, recognizes your unseen foe, and leads you to justice and victory against the forces that try to harm you.

“I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul.”  (Psalm 31:7)

All of us have gone through seasons in our lives where we have experienced conflict and pain that left us feeling bruised and lifeless. I have heard people say in unbelief that God doesn’t want to help them because many of their problems have been caused by poor choices. God is on your side even when you fail and harm yourself. He is rooting for you to overcome.

Some of you feel that you don’t deserve all that God offers you, but God desires mercy not judgment. You know in your mind that you are forgiven, but you don’t feel forgiven. Jesus never condemns you; rather He hungers to restore you.  Set your eyes on Him. No experience, wound, or failure can separate you from the love of God. Your past experiences do not define you.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

(Lamentations 3:22-23)
