3 Weapons of Daily Personal Warfare

Part 1

Obedience

Every day you and I face challenges. You may have struggles in relationships, finances, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. You must choose minute by minute and day by day, to say “Yes” to Bible principles and “No” to the world, the attitudes of your culture, and your flesh or the carnal man. Romans 8:6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

Every battle begins in your thought patterns and camps in your faulty core beliefs which produce how you feel emotionally, how you speak, and every behavioral choice that you operate in during your day. The mind submitted to God bears fruit, the mind that rebels against God struggles. What is the end result…Obedience or disobedience.

The first weapon of personal warfare is obedience. Why is it a weapon you ask? Because you close the doors to the enemy and feed your spirit man versus your flesh. By doing right behavior you are wearing the breastplate of righteousness. You can pray on the armor of Ephesians chapter 6 but it entails daily choices and actions to keep the armor on. Obedience guards you body, soul, and spirit.

When you choose to obey God in thought, speech, and behavior you are walking in obedience and the enemy has to flee as you resist the temptations of your carnal nature. It is so important to have a heart that agrees with God. Remember we are not perfect in every thought or choice. However, we can perfectly agree with God and His Word and be continually allowing Him to transform us in a sanctification process.

Your prayer should be, “Lord Jesus bind my obedience to the obedience of Christ that He was willing to lay down His life in death, let me be willing to die to self and the desires of my flesh. Help me to take every thought captive, tear down every stronghold, look and act like you with godly character, life, and relationship skills so that I may rightly reflect your image.”

The Bible is laden with scriptures that urge, command, and encourage obedience to God and His Word.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever —the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:15-18 NKJV

Your desire to be obedient is manifested through your fruit and shows a desire to know Him and walk in Truth. Obedience isn’t living under the law; you already know that “all have sinned and fallen short.” It is a daily choice to be obedient to the full measure of the Word, not trying to earn salvation but responding to God and His Word because you love Him.

God does not leave you alone in your decision to submit to Him daily in obedience. He gives you the Holy Spirit, the Spirit that reveals all Truth. You will receive Truth when you love the Truth. The world does not love the Truth and so they are carried away in their deception. You cannot help but love God when you truly know Him, who dwells in you.

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.”

1 John 5:3-4 NKJV

Obedience produces crops of righteousness, good fruit to bless your life in the here and now, and mold you in preparation to rule and reign with Christ Jesus. Make the minute by minute, day by day choice to obey; put action to the choice and grow in righteousness.
Let every thought that wars against Truth be torn down, and align yourself with the character of God in all of your communications and behaviors. It is an ongoing process; you won’t arrive until you meet Jesus but you will grow in His image.
